KOMBAT KOMEBACK ‘’Midway News’’

Just when you thought you’d had enough frantic fighting and fatalities, the Mortal kombat series is set to return with an action/adventure game entitled Mortal kombat: Shaolin Monks. Slated for release late year, Shaolin Monks will build on Deception’s adventure based conquest mode by adding multiple new facilities and more action based puzzles. Midway claims that this new addition will include single and multiplayer action as well as the opportunity to explore the MK universe form a fresh perspective. Many of the kombat fan favorites are sure to make an appearance, so soon you’ll get another chance to beat down on Baraka or Smack down Scorpion in some new environments.

It comes as a bit of a surprise to hear of another MK title on the way so soon after the arrival of Deception but as David F Zucker, president and chief executive officer at Midway explains, perhaps we’d better get used to it. ‘’Shaolin Monks is our first step towards delivering something that Mortal kombat fans have been calling for: a new game set in the Mk universe ever year.’ Deception was recently announced as Midway’s fastest selling game in company history and its predecessor, Deadly Alliance, sold more than three million copies worldwide, so it’s no wonder the publisher wants to milk the MK cash cow while it’s still healthy. But do we really need a new Mk game every year? It’s up to Midway to prove that we do. We’ll keep you update on Shaolin Monks as the details fights their way into the office.

MIDNIGHT CLUB III: DUB EDITION

At the time of going to press there is no information on the other Midnight Club III games, so we have to assume that this DUB Edition is the only edition. Weird how sponsorship deals work, huh? In the most action heavy Resident Evil title yet, Leon Kennedy walks into a mysterious European Village where the townsfolk are busy burning what appear to be corpses. Clearly not dim-witted zombies, the villagers suddenly pick up chainsaws and pitchforks and begin to corner Leon! Veterans of the Resident Evil series will be surprised by the new action oriented camera angle which is placed right behind Leon’s back for a semi first person shooter view. The story of Resident Evil 4 is still being kept a secret, but it seems that Leon will be battling a smarter breed of T-virus casualties. Resident Evil 4 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting titles to be released, giving GameCube and Playstation2 owners plenty of bragging rights in the console wars.
